2011 Rides
« on: January 04, 2011, 08:47:44 AM »
A suggestion only; We have in the past had rides yearly like Ole's ride up north, The Memorial day ride, Duane's ride out west, ride to shooters roundup, Hanson's holdup ride and Jesse James days ride, It would be nice to see some overnight rides this year also more rides with a destination, the overnights do not have to be at a motel, I for one love to camp out and in MN we have allot of state parks to choose from, also we did some rides with a destination and that was a blast, so my suggestion is that we have a meeting sometime in February with the Prez and VP and all road captains to plan the years rides if the date we pick for a certain ride does not work out just reschedule it, this way all members have a heads up and will be able to plan for our rides,
I have volunteered my services as a road captain for this years riding season and hope to take you all on some super rides, also please remember that leading a ride can be done by anyone in the chapter, just try it once you might really like doing it, if you are worried about getting the group lost Don't, we all do it at one time or another. ;D ;D ;D

Boy, now there is a road captain that is thinking ahead.  Great job.  The meeting will be after I get back from my Oklahoma thing.

I encourage all to think about where they want to ride this coming season.  The "ride to a destination" thing is a very easy thing, if you think about it.  Even if it is a short ride, who cares, at least you led it and it was a ride.  If you don't want to lead a ride, that is fine too.  Just join us for the fun ride to whereever.

Make what rides you can.  No pressure.  But you will find that leading a ride can be real fun.  Getting lost?  Just ask me about that one.  But on a nice day with good friends, who cares?

This sounds like a great idea.  If we can get our annual rides on the calendar, this will be a framework for another great riding season!  If the dates need to be adjusted later for weather or other reasons, so be it.  We can probably predict the weather four months ahead just as well as two weeks ahead!

Overnight rides sound good too, even with a motel, camp or camper cabin option. (Just watch the rocky ground for your tent stakes - right, Jimbo?  :o ;) ;D

There is no such thing as getting lost.  It is just an opportunity to experience an alternate route (said the experienced Road Captain).   ;D ;D ;D

I just spoke with The View Motel down by Galena, IL.  They have already booked up several weekends in August already with other motorcycle groups.  I am holding the open weekend, August 26th and 27th, for our group.  I'm going to put this on the calendar so we can get some commitments.  I can only hold this for a few weeks without getting everyone to reserve their rooms.  Let me know if you are interested.  There are 11 rooms, and only three are smoking rooms.  If you go to the web site, click on the "Groups" tab.  You will see the motel full of motorcycles.  Pretty cool, gets you all fired up for the riding season.

Hey Jimbo and 444 members:
The ride captains of 404 are having our first ride planning meeting this Thursday at my house at 6:30.  Wolfgang is getting antsy/restless and wants to get going on plans and Sparks has already fired up his bike this year.  If any of you are inclined to come down we could use any input on plans/dates for Oles ride, Hansons Holdup, Shooter Roundup, etc and there will be plenty of food.  It would be nice if we could avoid duplicating dates for the bigger/funner(?) rides so as to maximize joint participation. Meeting info is posted on our forum if any of you can/want to make it.

Gordo,  Thanks for that update.  I would encourage our road captains and anybody else who wants to have some input, to attend.  Wish I could be there, but you know me, I gotta work.
