Robin and I took the day off yesterday and rode up to Mille Lacs and I am sorry to say that the leaves up north are well past the peak and with all the wind we have been having the leaves are falling fast. I would say that about 30% of the leaves had already fallen.

If we are looking to just go for a ride going north is great, but if we want to see good color we should ride south.

Sorry to hear about some more bad news.  You know the expression, "we live to die".

I will be headed to the historical site (DQ) bright and early Saturday morning.  Hope to see a lot of riders there.  The report tonight on the local news says the parts of WI that we are headed to are at their peak in colors.  They also said that you might expect spotty showers (whatever that means).  But, we can dodge the best of them, because we are true motorcycle enthusiasts.   8) 8)

Thanks Dan, for leading this ride.  I love it when our members step up to the plate and get things done.  To those who can't make it, we all understand.

ps....   See you in the morning at 8:00am, at my place, Jim Hoover.  Is Joan coming too?

Nah Pat she's not ready yet.  She rides her new 650 well but she's still getting used to it.  We'll get her out in the spring.

See you at 8.

OK, so we were a bit late to the meeting point. :P  Nobody in sight at 6:00 pm when we passed the DQ. ::)  Glad to hear the ride went well.  Didn't hear how many bikes; sure wish we could have joined you!

After a morning spent at the funeral, even a short 90 mile ride was just what the doctor ordered.  Its amazing what even a short ride can do to clear your head.   Only a dozen or so raindrops as the sun set and we headed back through Stillwater and toward home.

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of fuel before you can think straight.  (In this case, 90 miles did the trick!)

Was a great ride.  Turned out to be one heck of a day weather wise too.  Looked pretty grim early on, but no rain and the sun came out and it was great.  We only had 7 bikes, with 8 people, but we had a great ride lead by none other than "Que Ball" Dan.  He did a great job.  I even rode tailgunner.

To those that came, thank you.  To those who couldn't make it, ...next time.

Good ride, great friends, great weather, good food.... who could ask for more?

Dan led a great ride and it didn't matter that there were only a few bright colored trees.  The woods smelled great, there were leaves flying all over, nice hills and curves and the temperature was very comfortable.  And I wasn't scolded for not riding fast enough!  We even ran into Ann and Tom in Hayward who were traveling by 4 wheels and recognized our group of bikes.  What a nice surprise.

Sunday I headed back to Wisconsin for a quilt show in Siren.  A little warm coming home but still a nice relaxing ride.

See all of you soon...

I wish I would have ridden with the group on Saturday, but I felt like riding the Stryker and my rear end can't do 350 miles on that bike.
I still wanted to ride so I went down to the Carpenter nature center and did the Leather and Gift ride.

Every time I ride with ride with a group that is not our Star riders it makes me miss you all.

The ride had sign in at 10:30 and an 11:00 start time. I got there by 10:45 but we did not leave tell 11:45. After the leader getting lost a few times we ended up at a dive bar called the gas light where I watched other people drink beer for an hour and a half tell we headed back to the nature center. It was a 60 mile ride that took about 4 hours to do.

The nature center was nice and it would be a great place for us to stop at sometime and the people who own leather and gift are good people. All in all I was on two wheels and it was a nice day I had fun I just would have more fun with you guys.

I think it is important to ride with others sometime so we know how good we have it with our group.

Yeah Bear we missed you too.  I agree with you that Jim and Donna are great people.  My brother stopped by the Center and had an Apple Brat which he said was great.

Sorry we missed it! Doug had thought this ride was on Sunday, not Saturday. We didn't realize it until late Fri nite and by then, it was too late for him to put my bike back together (the dreaded "1100" oil change & filter) to ride the next morning. Gotta get the filter relocation kit!  :D

Glad you had a great time!
