Well,
The Patriot Ride was again a success. The before events had many people's eye's tearing up! The first part of the ride was Great, over 2000 bikes in my opinion. It is always great to see the people that line the route waving, holding signs and displaying our wonderful Flag.
At the halfway point, the rain started. I needed to be home by five pm, so I donned my jacket, chaps and helmet. I probably should have waited out the rain, but nope! I headed east out of Cambridge. My second mistake. The rain started about 4 miles into the trip. There were times where the rain was so heavy that it looked like a fog covering the entire land. I was not the only bike on the route. At one point, just south of Stillwater, the water was running into the roadway almost hub deep on the wheels.
Needless to say, I made it home safely, When I finally got off the bike, I was soaked from head to toe. One thing I did not notice while driving was the added weight that I gained due to the water logged clothing. I am still drying out my things!
I have to say that the saddlebags did an awesome job of staying dry. I had my nice camera tucked in there. I was a bit afraid that it was going to be ruined. But to my surprise, it stayed dry.
This was an experience for me. I have rode in the rain in the past, but NOTHING like what I experienced yesterday.
Those of you that say, if you keep riding, you will eventually dry, are WRONG. I would have had to ride from coast to coast to dry out!!!
Anyway, all is good! Happy Father's Day to all of you out there!
