Colfax Train museum ride
« on: August 05, 2015, 08:54:36 PM »
Ok here we go, August 16, 2015 We will meet with our tanks and bellies full in Osceola at the DQ @ 10 am and kickstands up at 1030. FYI there is a new cafe 50 yards away from the DQ that is pretty darn good if you come a bit earlier for breakfast. Also the tour will cost a whole $5.00.  I do ask that you are planning on going let me know so that I can call ahead for the tour and head count, I don't think it would be a big deal either way. I plan on doing lunch at the Buck shot bar in Boyceville after the tour. At this time I have two routes one short and the other a bit longer depends on what time is left in the day and how the group feels. End of ride will be in Roberts Wi. at the Holiday on Hwy 12 (old).

Pat the Hwy that crosses into Osceola is the shortest one in MN and that it Hwy 243.

Weather looks good, morning stuff is going south of us and the stuff that's north will not get here until later in the afternoon. How ever bring rain gear just in case we get caught in some thing on the way home.

Tom sorry to hear that the AC is down hopefully that it's under warranty with that new house. Well we tried to all make it home with out getting wet. We made it to my house fine and tried to fix Bonnie's bike, fuse box is under seat and had to remove a bracket to get to it tail / turn fuse blown.... replaced fuse now they work.  How ever the head light was another issue fuse was good and had power from fuse but no power to head light assembly used a tester and also checked power at High/Low beam switch also no power? So she decided to head home before dark and just before she left no turn and brake light again? What the heck we just replaced the fuse and they worked. That one has me stumped.

Thanks Doug for again planning and leading a great ride. Wisconsin has so many awesome roads. Wish we could have stayed with you for lunch,  but we are glad we headed back. We checked the radar in Hudson and decided to head to our daughters in St. Paul rather than  home  and got the bike in the garage about 5 minutes before it started to rain. It was great spending the day with friends and meeting new people. Sorry to hear that Bonnie continues to have problems. The season is too short to struggle with issues. Good luck to her.

Ted and Judy thanx for tagging along but we all knew that the weather was going to be an issue at the end but at least you got 80% of the fun stuff that I planed. I just dig that old museum every time I go I see and learn some thing new of the old days that are long gone. One can read all the books in the world but can never take in from hands on "STUFF" like Scott said. I think this fall I might have to make a fall color ride on some of those roads.
