Ride on Sunday?
« on: September 29, 2010, 08:12:50 PM »
Dan and I were wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a ride from Century Power to the Leines Brewery in Chippewa Falls. WI? Dan has been working in Eau Claire and said the drive on Hwy 64 from New Richmond to Hwy 53 is beautiful. Most of it is new pavement. Nice hills and curves. The brewery has tours on Sunday from 11:30 to 3:00 leaving every half hour. What are your thoughts???     8)

Thanks, Dan and Kathy!  I was hoping to plan a ride this weekend but I guess I drug my feet too long..  We'll be there!

Jimbo, I'm going to link this topic to the calendar and and move it to Official Rides.

Sounds good to me.....  I'll even bring the "Big Dog" on this one (out of the shop and I have my fingers crossed, but it seemed to run great to and from work last night).  Thanks Dan and Kathy.

Hey people, check out the ride on October 9th, that the 404 is running.  Snitzel run.  I am going.  Go to their forum and find out the details.  Sounds fun, providing we still have decent weather.

Am I missing something? Does everyone but me in 444 have electric underware, it's going to be 56 deg. I do agree it would be a nice ride. If my legs are good enough and I can find my woolies I'll go. ;D

Sounds like fun.  Unfortunately, I was invited to ride with some other friends on a two nighter this weekend.  We leave Friday after work and come back Sunday afternoon.  I hear there are frost warnings Saturday night.  Who has those electric underwear?

It might be a bit cool out but that keeps you alert on the road. I have been told that I am cold at times????

OK, I'll admit it -- I was plugged in Tuesday morning on the way down to Lakeville and then to J&J's for the FTC trucks.  It wasn't turned on the whole way, but I was ready!  I was talked into a Gerbing liner before the little scoot trip through the Rockies in August and it certainly paid for itself (especially in the rain).  Now I've got Kathy convinced and we'll pick hers up on Saturday.  (Haven't found the "electric underwear" yet, Lucky.  ??? ;) )  Last year I didn't put the bike away until the first week in December - gotta extend the season if I can.

Pat, we enjoyed Wolfgang's Schnitzel run in May and are planning on going again next Saturday.  Still looking for a reservation to make it an overnight.

Duane and Debbie, have a good weekend - sounds fun.  :) :)

Lucky the cold air keeps the swelling down it's like putting ice on it?

Just thought I would remind everyone of some safety tips for riding in the cool days of Autumn.

1.   Cool air = wind chill.  Cover exposed skin to prevent frost bite. Dress in thin layers to stay warm.
2.   Leafs on the ground can be wet and slippery. Take your time on curves and avoid sudden stops.
3.   Air pressure on tires change. Check air pressure prior to riding.
4.   Don't forget to drink water to prevent dehydration. You may think it is not necessary but you will need it.
5.   Make more frequent stops to get circulation going to arms and legs.
6.   Dear are ready for rut and are on the move. Keep looking for movement on sides of the road.
7.   Have fun looking at the colors and enjoy the ride.

Looks like I won't make the ride tomorrow.  The kids have a mid-afternoon party with their classmates.  :'(  :'(  :'(
But, the kids want to take the motorcycles to their party, so we'll get a little riding in  ;D  ;D  ;D

Cliff, good safety tips.  I posted some in the safety board as well (doubled up on some of them.  Sorry, I posted it before reading yours.  Between the two of us, I think we got it pretty well covered  8) ).

Well the legs still are giving me some issues so I am out. I think I will take in the Hot Rod show and swap meet at the fair grounds tomarrow, to maybe buy my next project, instead. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the ride. I did buy underarmor for this kind of riding but dang it I can't yet. I'll be with you in spirit.
