I just spoke with The View Motel down by Galena, IL. They have booked up several weekends in August already with other motorcycle groups. I am holding the only open weekend, August 26th and 27th, for our group. I can only hold this for a few weeks without getting everyone to reserve their rooms. Let me know if you are interested. There are 11 rooms, and only three are smoking rooms. If you go to the web site, click on the "Groups" tab. You will see the motel full of motorcycles. Pretty cool, gets you all fired up for the riding season. Alan - please link this to the other chapter web site calendars so they can sign up as well. My goal is to get all 11 rooms. Let me know as soon as possible if you are going (first come, first served).

I would plan on leaving on Friday between noon and 3:00pm. It's about a 5-6 hour journey down there. We would return on Sunday afternoon.

I want to go, but can't give you a definite yet as our son Tony just informed us that he is engaged as of Jan 1 so we will have to wait to see what happens on a wedding date

Perhaps, if he was considerate, he could get married that weekend in Galena. . .

Hi Chappy;
I agree with you, the wedding should be in Galina. We are in and we want a smoking room, or rather I do. Should we get a hold of the motel or are you going to book all the confirmations from the members. Charm says hell or high water we ARE going even if she has to drive her car down. I will mark the 26Th & 27Th of Aug on our calendar.

We want to go but not sure at this time if I have to get a plate put in my ankle. I went to the Dr. yesterday and the x-ray wasn't good, It hasn't healed at all. I go back on February 15th and if things didn't heal I will go under the knife and have a plate put in.
My riding season may be over for 2011. I will keep everyone in touch.

That's one smoking room down, two to go. . . and two non-smoking rooms down and six to go. I will let you know in a week or so how we will make the reservations. Obviously I can't hold them all on my credit card. If we book all eleven rooms, we get a special rate. I'll get that information and post it. I'm currently holding them all.

Alan. . . is this discussion string linked to the other calendars? Can they see this information or do they need to access our forum. Hopefully anyone interested from the other chapters will sign up here. Are you going to notify 423 as well? I want to make sure we have enough to fill the motel.

By the way, we don't need to spend a lot of money eating dinner on Saturday. If we buy the food, Andy has a large party grill and will cook the food for us.

Hey Munchkin. . . would the surgery keep you from being a passenger? We can always use a rifle sling for your crutches.

Becky, so sorry to hear about your ankle and the non healing that is going on. Sure hope you don't miss the 2011 riding year. It would be a shame for our LOS leader to miss anything.

Now also on the 423 forum. And it looks like on all four chapter forums that the discussion topic is open to read without a forum login. People would need to have a login to reply, though.

Alan that is our anniversary and I can't think of a better way to spend it put us in. Won't know if I can get Friday off to leave that early but we will get there Friday night.

I agree with Chappy, it wouldn't be your hip like Charm so you can rest it and let Slim do the work and you can enjoy the ride. Charm plans on having here next surgery to take the bolt, screws, and plate out in late march early April. I hope she recovers enough to ride also. Hey you ladies are tough though, remember child birth?
