RSTD Bars for 1300
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:55:28 PM »
I have a set of RSTD bars that will fit a 1300 without a cable swap.  Great bars they just didn't fit my 950.  If interested give me a holler.

Papa

I have read that they will help you sit more upright on the 1300. I think it is worth a try I would give you $50 for them. Can you bring them to the March meeting and I will take all of the help I can get putting them on.

Out of fairness Gordo piped up first so he gets first dibs.  I'll bring them along to the March meeting.

Just a heads up on these bars.  You WILL NOT be able to put your stock grips back on these bars.  You'll need to switch to an aftermarket grip as part of the install.  I was putting a set of Kury ISO's on at the same time.

I am pretty content with my bars but have considered the change to RSTD bars and I have ISO grips already. If Bear wants them he can have them.  If he chooses not I'll take them.  I plan to be at the March meeting so your bars will go whether with me or Bear, and you go home with $50 in your pocket.

I have the ISO grips on my 1300 now. Is it possible to get the one that is glued on off or do I need new grips?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  I hope we can get it off without damaging it too bad.  I'll give it some thought.

Depending on what glue you used a couple of things to try.  A long thin screw driver can sometimes be worked in between the bar and grip (parallel to the bar after removing the end cap) and by rotating the screw driver you can work your way around to loosen the grip.  Or try a little WD-40 squirted in between bar and grip using the plastic tube.  Sometimes the grip will just pull off with a little twisting, again depends on what glue you used.

I used the glue that came with the grips, does that help?

If we are able to save the grip any idea on what glue to use to put it on the new bars?

Thanks

Bear I have glue we can use to put it back on.  Please tell me you didn't use the whole tube during the install!  LOL

BTW.  If you have an allen wrench that fits the bolts on the end of the grips bring it with you.  I (or someone else) seems to have lost my SAE allen wrenches.
