PAL Ride 2013

The date has been set for the 2013 PAL Ride.  I heard many good things about the ride last year.  Attached is the registration form (PDF). You can print it and fill it out.  Last year I believe they came to one of our meetings to collect registrations.

Minneapolis Police Activities League (PAL), announces its 3rd Annual “PAL Ryder Motorcycle Run” fundraiser.  A raffle drawing will take place at one of the stops.  All proceeds benefit PAL programming, a 501c3 organization, that is free to all kids.  Your registration is tax-deductible (charitable donation).

Where/Start:   Minneapolis Park Police PD (2117 West River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55411)

When:   Saturday,  June 1,  2013 @ 11:00 a.m.—Check in for Riders at 9:30 a.m. 
         Event held rain or shine.

   The Minneapolis Police Activities League (PAL) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was created to reduce crime and violence amongst youth by engaging police officers in mentorship roles with young people. At PAL, we believe that kids deserve a safe place to play and an opportunity to engage in positive character building activities to enhance their lives. PAL programming is paid for by grants, donations, and fundraisers. The services we deliver to kids are free. Many kids would not be able to participate in sports and activities without the support of Minneapolis PAL.

Registration Fee: Mail cashier’s check or money order to Police Activities League, 4119 Dupont AV N., Minneapolis, MN, 55412.  All forms of payment accepted at the PAL Offices during office hours M-F.
   Rider:       $45   (Includes T-Shirt and refreshments at each stop)
   Passenger:      $25   (Includes T-Shirt and refreshments at each stop)

   
Included in Rider Registration:  Route Map, Rider T-Shirt, food and drink at Route stops, blocked rooms at Grand Casino for Riders staying overnight, and PAL Raffle.  Passenger receives refreshments and Rider T-Shirt.
   (To reserve a room, you have to call Grand Casino and notify them using Mpls PAL or MPLS0601 for the discounted rate)

Kathy and I visited the 1029 Bar after it was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  As described by the guy we asked for directions when we were not quite there ... "oh, you mean the cop bar".  Its a nice neighborhood bar with interesting food where the MPD likes to hang out.  Kathy had the Lobster Mac and Cheese (as featured on Triple-D) - good but a bit $$$.  Free appetizers sound good.  Monday's forecast five-day-guess calls for 70 degrees.

That's gonna be a busy weekend.  The Veterans Ride is Sunday June 2nd.  I got the flier over the weekend.

BTW.  I won't be able to make this ride this year I have a golf tournament that day.  I will be going on the Veterans ride though.

Rich - I sincerely appreciate your offer, but I can see if Grandma wants to hang out with them. In addition to the cost, my other concern would be what they could do once we get to the casino. Thank you

OK, fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, I highly recommend you partake in this years PAL ride.  While I won't be able to make it again this year, we heard very good things about this ride.  The weather looks pretty good at this juncture, so if you haven't registered, you can do so on that day.  The PAL group has been very good to us and they need our support again this year. 

So, crank those engines up and show em how many STAR Chapter members will ride with our officers.  Thanks Rich, for offering to lead to the starting point.  Much appreciated.

Rich thank you for leading the group to the starting place and I will show up when ever you say to, but if it takes us 1/2 hour to get there and sign up does not start tell 9:30 and the ride does not leave untill 11:00 could we leave a little later?

I was thinking of taking a longer route to get a little more riding in before going to the Starting point for PAL. If others would like to have a later departure from our starting point let me know and I'll make changes to my original plan.
