Southeast STAR-B-Q - June 11-13, Thu-Sat

The Southeast STAR-B-Q for 2015 is in Louisville, KY.  I've been working with them on their website and this looks like a really nice event with some great rides.  Of course from Minnesota, there'll some nice riding just getting to the event.

One of their rides is through a national forest where I took an unplanned detour in July 2013.  I will either route us down though there on our way, join their ride, or both!  They also have two routes on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.  Another includes a tour of the Kentucky Derby Museum.  Lots goin' on!

I'll be putting together a route that will more than likely leave Tuesday morning the 9th.  More details to come.

I've got a route pretty much set that I think will work nicely.  We'll leave from The Point at about 8am Tuesday morning.  So far, three five of us are registered with a couple maybe more interested.

The first day will include the Minduro Cut, three Wisconsin Rustic Roads and a few of the nice roads in the surrounding Hillsboro area that Rick and 292 shared last June.  Overnight is planned in Galena (I haven't called The View motel yet.) (see below)

Once we get our group set, we can plan a quick chat with the remaining details (maybe at the IMS, maybe after the Feb mtg).

Yeah Pat I got "the look" when I mentioned this to the wife.  I don't think it'll be a problem with work but she might be another story.  This trip in June and Star Days in July might be pushing it with her.  LOL

I am seriously thinking about going.  Just can't lock up the time off just yet.  But I am working on it.

OK!!!!!!! I'm registered.   

Couple of things I found out:

1)  You have to call the hotel to make room reservations and give them the group code (STARBQ).  If you try to make a reservation on-line, it'll tell you there aren't any rooms available.  As of today there are still 30 rooms available in the reserved block.

2)  The payment method is by check only.  Apparently someone doesn't like PayPal.  What's up with that Alan?

Registrations are really coming in - nearly a hundred so far with twenty just in the last three days.  People like to start planning their trips early; I wish we knew more about the Great Lakes STAR-B-Q the following weekend.  (I'm tempted to give 'em a call ... but that'll be another forum topic once we know more.)

I've heard from Robert the event coordinator that the host hotel is getting close to filling the rooms allotted.  If you haven't registered, fill out the form here.  (You can also check the other chapters and state ambassadors that are represented.)

I'll be leading a small group on Tuesday morning for the 800 mile trip to Louisville to arrive Thursday late afternoon.  I'm still routing some interesting, scenic roads on the way.  The return trip could be a bit quicker leaving Sunday morning and arriving home late Monday.
