In that same discussion (and I really thought you were still there), Bear suggested a more leisurely route down rather than a couple 400+ mile days.  I could go either way but even on multi-day rides I like to find some interesting back roads.  The return route will probably be two, longer days.   Leaving Wednesday morning would probably mean about 500 miles with 300 miles on Thursday to get there in time to check in and join them for supper.  I'll have more to talk about once I work up the routing.

I'm looking forward to this event and ride.  I can't say for sure just yet, but I should be able to secure the time off. 

On a side note:  I just got back from Nebraska visiting my Dad in the hospital.  Saw plenty of bikes down there, but then again, the weather was in the 60's, so why not.  Made me mad I was stuck in a cage.

Well, he got weak from the flu and fell.  He appears to be on the road to recovery, but at 92, it is slow. These old people get dehydrated real easy and that is not good.  Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the update Alan.  Not sure when I'm coming to IMS but I'll definitely be at the Feb meeting.  I'm up for a leisurely ride down and have always enjoyed your routing.

Just got off the phone with Andy at The View Motel.  For those that know him, it won't be any surprise that he is still pretty much the most accommodating person in hospitality.  (He's extra appreciative to have us on a Tuesday night. )  I'm hoping that we'll have time to enjoy a campfire that evening.  He's also offered to have the cooler stocked - I told him that we'd let him know.  Again, it kinda depends on our arrival time.

I made a reservation for 6/09 Tuesday for one night and let him know that he'd be getting more calls in the next couple days.  Give him a call at 815-858-2205 to save your room - it'll be between $59 and $69 plus tax depending on room type and occupancy.


Also made a reservation at the Comfort Inn in Effingham, IL for 6/10 Wednesday.  I used their app but you should be able to reach them at 217-347-5050.  The address is 1304 W. Evergreen Drive.  Using the STAR group rate it was $68 (~$76 after tax).


Also hoping I'll have at least one other rider with a Scala G9/G4 headset.  Let me know if you have one, will be getting one, or would like to borrow one.
