I recommend the Tourmaster Flex riding pants!  I wear them on all my long distance trips - pretty much anything overnight.  I'm not sure how many thousands of miles I put on my first pair before buying the exact same thing once I finally wore them out.

I got them a little big to have room for jeans underneath, but usually wear just gym shorts.  The Flex means very flexible venting - large panels zip completely off for great ventilation.
