3rd Annual St. Jude Benefit Ride

Bob is organizing the St. Jude Benefit Ride again this year and we've decided on Sunday, May 19th 26th Saturday, June 22nd.  We had a small group our first year and got a bit bigger last year.  We'd like a good turnout and a nice group donation for this great charity.  Bob will have pledge forms at our next meeting.  Please try to make this ride but if you can't make it, consider sponsoring one of those going.

Bob has entrusted me again to lead this ride; I'll start scouting routes once the snow melts (again!).  Ride details to follow ...

Due to weather, this ride is postponed to the following weekend on Sunday, May 26th.  Same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel (no one else remembers that do they?) -  Holiday gas station at I-94 and Manning and kickstands up at 10:30am.

Due to (guess what? ...) weather, this ride has been postponed until Saturday, June 22nd.  Same meeting time and place.

A couple days ago I was able to pre-ride an initial prospective route.  Parts I liked, parts I didn't - once the rain and s$#@ move on through (in several days??) I'll try more variations. 

Even before I have the final route decided, I'll set and post the start location and time.  Stay tuned ...

We will be meeting at the Holiday gas station at I-94 and Manning.  Kickstands up at 10:30am.  Lunch will be about an hour into the ride.  The route is a bit over 200 miles.

Ken and I pre-rode the route yesterday and it looks great!

For some reason when we were discussing this on Saturday I thought it was the 18th not the 19th (probably lack of sleep).  I'll be able to make it then.

i hope it isn't but the weather station shows rain starting Thursday to Tuesday ,   Bummer

I've watched the weekend forecast go from certain rain to only a low chance.  Looking at two different sources today show very different guesses.  I won't get too worried until maybe Friday.  Jim, Saturday the 18th came up at the meeting last Saturday as a possible rain date.  We'll see.

I would like to hear who is planning on making this ride and, also who could make it Saturday if we have to move it up.  (Plus who is bringing their Scala Rider Q2, G4 or G9 and would like to connect. So far, I still need a tailgunner with headset.)

If the weekend does get rained out, we'll find a later date for the ride - maybe June 16th or 22nd.

Keep checking the forum, or sign up for MsgCtr updates, for last minute changes.  I'm hesitant to call this ride, especially it being for the St. Jude benefit.  If the "day of" forecast calls for high percentage rain chance, thunderstorms and/or high wind, I'll probably call it by 9:00 am.  If it looks iffy or patches of light rain and mild wind, I'll probably be there with rain gear.

If you'd like to participate in this ride but feel uncomfortable with the weather, let me know. I'll be happy to lead this ride both this weekend and a separate makeup date. (I'm not sure by when Bob needs to send in the pledge forms, though.)

The pledge forms can be sent in on a later date, even as late as july when ever we have the ride
and this ride should be a safe and fun ride that people can enjoy.

I am planning on making this ride.  From what I gather of the "guessers" on the forecast, it doesn't sound too bad at all.  Like Alan said, we will wait and see.  I kind of wanted to help at the "broken toe rodeo", but the St. Jude ride is for a good cause and our own "Eagle" Bob, needs our groups support.

Just a suggestion, I would suggest moving it to a later date, I know i would not make it this Sat. and Alan I will use my G-4 and be your tail gunner if Cliff doesn't make the ride and as i said yesterday at 292's meeting the 26Th of this month is open also.

The forecast is not looking very promising; I will likely postpone this ride until the next Sunday.  This would be the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday the 26th looks good too.  Just make sure the calendar is changed and people get a chance to make new plans.

I can make the 26th also.  This sure has been a crappy spring.  I did manage to ride to work 3 times this week though.
