Ride on Sunday 7/20

For those not on their way south to STAR Days, I'll lead a ride this Sunday.  We'll meet at the new Kwik Trip station near I-694 and MN 5 in Oakdale (just north of Menards) with KSU at 10:30a.

Where ya go'n? I took Sun night off so I might be able to go.

I'm still putting some favorite ride segments together but looking north and east - likely coming through Osceola so we can "pick you up", Doug, if you'd like.  Lunch could be there in town at either DQ or Subway or           (Doug, fill in the blank with your recommendation...)       .  Initially, I was aiming at Wild Waters in Danbury for stuffed burgers for a lunch stop ... it just depends on the evolving route. 

I'm pretty sure I'll have it mostly "figgered out" by 10:29a Sunday ... more than likely ...

Osceola is not known for great places to eat. There is a new owner for the coffee shop by the falls I'm not sure if it's open yet after all the remodeling. I'll check it out Sat to see what's up with it. It did look like it was open the other day when I went by. PY's  or the bowling alley have food lunch type food, I wouldn't recommend the Chinese restaurant, the new Mexican place is an ok spot for dinner but not a lunch. Trap Rock just closed it doors in the past month not sure when just went by yesterday and seen the for sale sign. We are running out place to eat out here no one supports these place any more so they just close the door.

The route is mostly set; I may tweak it a bit later.  (I'll be busy tomorrow morning at a BRC2 class^*.)  We will be in Osceola at about noon for lunch.  Doug, we can meet you somewhere there, but you'll miss some new (and newly surfaced) roads for the morning route.

Who else can make it?

^*    Nope - now I guess its the "Confident Rider Course"; it used to be the "Advanced Rider Course" and then the "Basic Rider Course 2" (BRC2).  Any ideas what they'll call it next??

I think it was also called the ERC, Experienced Rider Course. . .

I believe you're right about the "Experienced Rider" name (and now I'm less confident about the "Advanced Rider" title ).

How long is the ride?  You said you were going north.  I need to split off and be back home by 1:30 or so.  My daughter and the kids are coming by.

Glad you can make it Tom and Joanne!

I was home for about and hour and a half yesterday between my morning class, doing a bit of a preride and then heading off to a birthday party, so I didn't see your post in time Chappy.  To have made it home by 1:30, your best bet would be to break off after lunch.  Or skip the lunch stop probably would have had you home by 12:45 at the latest.



FYI: I saved a GPS track from the MSF-CRC yesterday morning - a whole buncha ridin' around in circles .... but well worth the time.
If you look real close, you can see where I had to put my foot down ... OK, maybe not.

It was a nice day for a ride - only a bit warm, but no complaints, its July after all!  Had a nice lunch at a new place (new for me, anyway).  Thanks again, Jimbo!  I did manage to miss a turn (ok, one in MN and one in WI), ran into about a quarter mile of unexpected gravel, but managed to end the ride with a round of root beer floats!  Thanks for the company; we had a great day!
